The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children have an evaluation by an orthodontist no later than age 7. By then, front and back permanent teeth should be coming in.

This allows us to examine the alignment of teeth and jaws from front-to-back and side-to-side. It is important to know that misaligned teeth and jaws can contribute to gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of teeth, and headaches.

Severe crowding, excessive spacing, and misalignment of jaws can interfere with normal skeletal and dental development. For example, protruding upper or lower teeth can negatively affect speaking, eating, and self-esteem. Even with growth, these problems will not change unless they are corrected with early intervention.

Some orthodontic problems should be treated later than age 7, when children are approaching their growth spurt and they have most of their permanent teeth. Other problems should be treated when all of the permanent teeth are in. At DeSimone Orthodontics we have the knowledge and experience to determine when the time is just right to start orthodontic treatment. By starting at the correct time, length of treatment is significantly reduced and remarkable facial and dental improvements are made.

Today more than 30% of orthodontic patients are adults. With leading edge technologies such as Invisalign and nearly invisible braces, DeSimone Orthodontics can give you the smile makeover you always wanted without drawing attention your treatment. State-of-the-art techniques using temperature-sensitive wires allows for maximum comfort and shortened treatment times.

During your first appointment at DeSimone Orthodontics one of the following three decisions will be made:

  1. Orthodontic treatment is not indicated.
  2. Orthodontic treatment will be indicated in the future. A return appointment will be made to monitor growth and development of the teeth and jaws.
  3. Orthodontic treatment is indicated now and diagnostic records are taken to formulate a treatment plan. Diagnostic records consist of digital radiographs, photographs, and impressions of the teeth.

Evaluations at your first appointment are complimentary. Our goal is to provide exceptional orthodontic care that is affordable.
